GEA Group, founded in 1881 in Germany and one of the world's largest suppliers of systems and components for the food, beverage, and pharmaceutical industries, has named WEG the Best Supplier in Sustainability among 200 companies. The recognition took place on October 15, during the 2026 GEA Supplier Summit in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. In total, the award honored winners across five categories.
WEG had already received the Best Supplier in Innovation award in 2023. The partnership between WEG and GEA Group began in 2009 and has since become a benchmark for the supply of innovative and sustainable solutions to the market. The company behind the award is considered the most sustainable company in Germany by Time Magazine, and the 17th in the world, according to a ranking released in June this year.
In an official statement, GEA recognized the honored partners as essential to achieving its sustainability goals, particularly the reduction of Scope 3 greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. "Strong partnerships combine capabilities, create measurable value and help both sides achieve more than they could alone," the company stated.
"Being recognized by one of the most sustainable companies in the world, such as GEA, is a great source of pride and confirms that our actions are aligned with market demands. We are truly supporting our customers, whom we thank for trusting our solutions and best practices", said Daniel Godinho, WEG's Vice President of Sustainability and Institutional Relations.
Progress in Sustainability
Since 2023, WEG has been recognized with the EcoVadis Gold Medal. With each assessment cycle, WEG has continuously improved its scores across the four evaluated dimensions: environment, ethics, labor and human rights, and sustainable procurement.
In 2025, 71% of WEG's revenue came from sustainable products. Regarding decarbonization, the company launched the WEG Carbon Neutral Program in 2022, which has already resulted in a 32% reduction in Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions, advancing toward the goal of a 52% reduction by 2030. Last year, the company's short-term emission reduction targets were approved by the SBTi (Science Based Targets initiative).
WEG is also the first company in the world to have an approved tool for issuing Environmental Product Declarations (EPD), certified in 2025. The EPD is a standardized, internationally recognized document that presents environmental information about a product throughout its entire life cycle, from raw material extraction to final disposal.
