The transition towards a more efficient and sustainable energy matrix requires solutions capable of maintaining high performance over time. In this context, WEG recognized Empresa Eléctrica Agua Azul S.A. for the completion of the Potrero Hydroelectric Power Plant project (CH Potrero), executed years ago in Peru, whose solution supplied by WEG has demonstrated high operational reliability over time.

WEG was selected by Empresa Eléctrica Agua Azul S.A. to supply and install all the main equipment of the project, delivering a complete Water to Wire solution, covering everything from the powerhouse equipment to the electrical substation, including the intake gates.

Comprehensive solution with proven results

For the CH Potrero Project, WEG was responsible for the supply and installation of all critical equipment of the generation system, from the inlet valve of the hydraulic system to the transformer output to the substation.

In addition, WEG supplied and installed the intake gates, essential components for flow regulation and the plant’s operational safety.

More than eight years of operation at 100% capacity

Since its commissioning, the Potrero Hydroelectric Power Plant has been delivering 100% of its generation capacity, maintaining stable, safe performance and high availability.

The integration of the electromechanical, electrical and automation systems supplied by WEG has enabled reliable long-term operation, providing direct benefits to the operator, such as reduced maintenance, extended asset lifetime and ease of operation.

Recognition that validates the contribution to renewable energy generation

The recognition of Empresa Eléctrica Agua Azul S.A. for the CH Potrero Project highlights the trust placed in WEG and the decision to invest in solutions designed for reliable and sustained performance over time. This choice has made it possible to consolidate a project that contributes significantly to renewable energy generation in the country.

For WEG, this recognition reaffirms the value of a working relationship based on collaboration and a long-term vision, as well as its ability to support customers with integrated solutions for hydroelectric power plants, combining engineering, supply and field experience with consistent results over the years.

It has been a beautiful and challenging project for WEG in Peru, and we are always grateful for the customer’s trust, which allowed us to develop it within a framework of excellent professional and personal relationships,” says Adams Marcacini, Director of WEG Peru.
