Evolution and reinvention are keywords for WEG. WEGnology is not only a concept, it is WEG's way to combine technology, processes and people in a unique way, resulting in products and solutions that contribute to continuous growth. It is WEG's way of doing things.
For WEG, technological innovation mainly refers to the development of new technologies, new products, materials and tests, aiming to increase efficiency, reduce costs, improve quality and reduce the raw materials used in products. That is how the company becomes more competitive, gains new markets, stays sustainable and contributes to the development of the planet.
In 2014, R$ 224 million were invested in Research & Development, in addition to a team formed by 1,017 employees (746 of whom are based in Brazil) exclusively dedicated to innovation. Approximately 95 patents are on the way or already granted.
At WEG, all ideas are organized and arranged by means of the WPQP (WEG Program of Quality and Productivity). Within that is the TDP (Technological Development Program), which gathers the innovation projects for new products and processes. Based on the Technological Strategic Planning, the various projects that will become part of the programs are defined.
Creative people focused on innovation are essential for the evolution of products and processes. Therefore, WEG invests strongly in its Research & Development team, and in an environment oriented to encourage creativity.
