WEG, through its Paints and Coatings division, supplied an anti-corrosion and anti-fouling protection solution for the construction of a new barge intended for the aquaculture industry in Ecuador. The project was developed at one of the leading shipyards in Guayaquil, with the supply carried out by Pintusariato S.A., WEG's distributor in the country.

The application was developed to address the severe conditions to which vessels in the sector are exposed, as they are constantly exposed to saltwater, humidity, and marine organisms, factors that accelerate corrosion processes and the deterioration of metal structures. In this scenario, choosing an appropriate coating system is essential to preserve the vessel's integrity and contribute to its operational availability.

For the project, WEG provided a complete industrial-marine coating plan for different areas of the vessel, including the underwater hull, topsides, deck, deckhouse, and interior areas. The system combines high-performance anti-corrosion and anti-fouling solutions developed to protect metal surfaces against the marine environment and reduce organism adhesion on the hull.

In addition to contributing to structural protection, the anti-fouling system helps maintain the vessel's operational performance. Reducing the accumulation of organisms on the submerged surface helps minimize efficiency losses and increased energy consumption caused by greater resistance to the vessel's movement.

The choice of WEG solutions also reinforces the trust built through previous projects. This is the second vessel of similar characteristics developed by the customer using WEG coating systems, following the positive results achieved in a previous project. The performance observed contributed to the continuation of the partnership and the decision to choose the brand again for this new project.
