WEG has successfully implemented its WEGSCAN digital monitoring solution in partnership with Nuova Ites, a leading European company specialized in the repair and overhaul of electrical rotating machines. The project supports the continuous monitoring of a critical motor operating in a cement production facility, improving equipment reliability, maintenance planning and operational efficiency.
The application involves a 132 kW, 2-pole WEG special series motor coupled to a compressor, forming an essential part of the customer's production process. Recognizing the importance of continuous condition monitoring in this demanding application, WEG supplied and commissioned a complete monitoring solution consisting of the WEGSCAN 100 system and the Gateway Cassia X2000. The system was configured to meet the specific requirements of the installation and integrated into both Nuova Ites' and the cement plant's monitoring processes.
The WEGSCAN solution continuously monitors key operating parameters such as vibration, temperature and other indicators of motor health. Engineers can access performance data remotely through a standard computer interface or smartphone, enabling faster decision-making and early identification of potential issues before they impact production. The Gateway Cassia X2000 provides reliable wireless communication between the monitoring devices and the network, ensuring real-time data transmission even in demanding industrial environments.
With continuous access to operational data, Nuova Ites can identify abnormal operating conditions at an early stage, schedule predictive maintenance more effectively and reduce the risk of unplanned downtime. The solution also helps optimize maintenance activities, extend equipment life and improve energy efficiency—particularly valuable in energy-intensive industries such as cement production.
