The fixed vacuum circuit breakers VBWC, with rated currents up to 1,250 A, 17.5 kV and 25 kA, feature a robust and compact structure, and are used for the protection of electrical circuits.
The interruption of the electric current is carried out inside a ceramic structure known as a vacuum interrupter. The interrupter is completely insulated, which allows for a high vacuum level inside and houses the fixed and moving contacts. The electric arc is initiated the moment the contacts separate and, thanks to the structure in which these contacts are housed, it is easily extinguished.
The excellent insulation inside the interrupter prevents the loss of vacuum and, therefore, minimizes contact wear in case of a short-circuit; it also efficiently reduces the energy generated by the arc.
