A produ\u00e7\u00e3o de cimento \u00e9 respons\u00e1vel por cerca de 8% das emiss\u00f5es globais de di\u00f3xido de carbono de acordo com o <a href=\"https:\/\/awsassets.panda.org\/downloads\/englishsummary__lr_pdf.pdf\">relat\u00f3rio<\/a> da WWF.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Agora, imagine um material t\u00e3o resistente quanto o concreto, mas capaz de se regenerar sozinho, sem precisar que se tenha gastos com m\u00e3o de obra e manuten\u00e7\u00e3o e que ainda seja sustent\u00e1vel. Parece incr\u00edvel, n\u00e3o \u00e9 mesmo? Pois esse material j\u00e1 existe e \u00e9 conhecido como <strong>Bioconcreto<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Mas o que \u00e9 Bioconcreto?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">O <strong>Bioconcreto<\/strong> foi desenvolvido por pesquisadores da Universidade de Tecnologia de Delft, na Holanda, para solucionar o processo de deteriora\u00e7\u00e3o dos materiais expostos pelas a\u00e7\u00f5es da natureza ao longo dos anos. As <em>Bacillus pseudofirmus <\/em>s\u00e3o encontradas em \u00e1reas in\u00f3spitas como crateras de vulc\u00f5es ativos e lagos congelados na R\u00fassia. Elas tamb\u00e9m s\u00e3o capazes de viver mais de 200 anos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Esses microrganismos permanecem adormecidos e sobrevivem em ambientes com pH alto, que \u00e9 o caso do concreto. Quando misturados, eles s\u00e3o ativados ao detectar a presen\u00e7a da umidade no ambiente, o que acontece quando h\u00e1 danos como rachadura, o que deixa a estrutura interna exposta.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">O <strong>Bioconcreto <\/strong>\u00e9 capaz de se regenerar por meio da alimenta\u00e7\u00e3o e da digest\u00e3o das bact\u00e9rias. Quando elas saem da in\u00e9rcia, consomem o lactato de c\u00e1lcio utilizado na mistura do concreto, liberando calc\u00e1rio na digest\u00e3o, que ocupa o espa\u00e7o aberto no concreto.
