WEG has completed the first delivery of WG20 gearboxes in Portugal under the Fast Gear program, providing a complete solution for an asphalt mixing project located in Vila Real. The initiative reinforces the company’s commitment to delivering high-performance equipment combined with reduced lead times, even for critical industrial applications.
The supply included two WG20 gearboxes, model KH103-22P-200L-04E-TF-SD, each rated at 30 kW with a torque of 8,000 Nm. Designed to operate in a synchronized manner, the units ensure precise movement between shafts, preventing unwanted mechanical stress and delivering stable and reliable performance. This feature is essential for the continuous operation of the asphalt mixing plant, which has a production capacity of 200 tons per hour.
The Fast Gear program enables the delivery of fully assembled gearboxes with lead times starting at 24 hours and up to 72 hours, depending on the configuration. Given the urgency of the project, the equipment was shipped directly to the customer, with WEG’s technical team also supporting the installation and commissioning phases.
The gearboxes are responsible for driving the mixer shafts, ensuring precise and synchronized movement of the paddles— a decisive factor for efficiency and continuity of the quarry’s production process. Due to the limited available space, the installation required additional care, including partial disassembly of the assemblies, on-site installation of the gearboxes and final assembly with precise shaft alignment.
With the specialized support of WEG’s engineering team, the technical challenges involved in installing a system weighing more than half a ton were successfully overcome, ensuring proper system operation. The adopted solution allows the quarry to operate with greater robustness, precision and stability, contributing to the reliability of its production process.
The project marks the debut of WG20 gearboxes within the Fast Gear program in Portugal and strengthens WEG’s position as a supplier of complete, agile and reliable solutions capable of meeting demanding industrial applications with high technical complexity.
