Northcentral Technical College, Wausau (WI), USA, has implemented a modern sawmill training facility designed to replicate industrial wood processing environments. The project was developed in collaboration with Cleereman Industries and features a complete suite of WEG motors, drives, and controls engineered to provide stable, efficient, and continuous operation in a training context.
Cleereman Industries supplied the sawmill equipment, which is powered by WEG’s NEMA Premium Efficiency motors and variable frequency drives (VFDs). These components deliver optimized torque control, reduced mechanical stress during start-up, and improved energy performance across the system. The integrated control architecture supports consistent operational behavior, allowing students to observe and manage real-world process variables such as feed rate, load response, and motor performance.
The facility provides students with direct interaction with industrial-grade production machinery, preparing them for technical roles in sawmill operations and broader wood product manufacturing. By working with a system engineered for reliability and predictable performance, trainees gain familiarity with maintenance routines, operational safety procedures, and equipment diagnostics aligned with industry standards.
This collaboration establishes a pipeline of workforce-ready operators and technicians equipped with practical skills relevant to current mill operations.
When reliability, performance consistency, and long-term operational value are required, the world asks and WEG delivers.
