WEG will be the supplier of the electrical package for the new Suzano factory, which is under construction in the municipality of Ribas do Rio Pardo, state of Mato Grosso do Sul, Brazil. The scope involves the supply of 65 Distribution Transformers, 1,300 motors including W22, W50, W51HD and W60 lines, approximately 1,300 Electrical Panels and Drives, in addition to field services. In total, there will be more than 3,000 products supplied.

The equipaments are already being produced at the WEG factories in Jaraguá do Sul and Blumenau and will be delivered to Suzano by 2023.

Intended for the manufacture of bleached eucalyptus pulp and with start-up scheduled for the second half of 2024, the new Suzano plant will have an installed capacity of 2.55 million tons per year. The project will receive R$ 19.3 billion in investments and is considered the most efficient facilities in the company due to the low level of carbon emissions expected after the start of operations. The new plant will also be Suzano's most competitive in terms of the cash cost of pulp production, a condition favored by the smaller average radius of the forests that will supply the unit and by the volume of surplus energy. The new unit also features biomass gasification to replace fossil fuel in lime kilns.

“Supplying this electrical package to the most competitive and eco-efficient plant of Suzano in terms of low carbon emissions reaffirms not only our technological capacity, but also our commitment to developing solutions to contribute to the construction of a more efficient and sustainable world,” emphasizes Manfred Peter Johann, Managing Director of WEG Automation.

As a traditional supplier of equipment and solutions for the pulp and paper industries, WEG offers complete solutions, ranging from the supply of high-performance motors to the most advanced automation systems, including the entire electrical and power generation infrastructure. These are innovative solutions that increase performance and improve the quality of the final product.
