WEG has equipped the Saúde Conectada Sesi vessel, which was delivered this Friday (14) in Belém, state of Pará, Brazil. Developed in partnership with the Federal University of Pará (UFPA) and the Social Service of Industry (Sesi), the project aims to bring digital healthcare to industrial workers and riverside communities in the Amazon region in an innovative and sustainable way.
The vessel’s entire electrical scope was fully developed, tested, and delivered by WEG, standing out for its reliability and efficiency. The 15.5-meter aluminum catamaran, with capacity for 10 people, features a hybrid electric propulsion system and battery energy storage (BESS). The vessel will operate in the Belém region and the Marajó archipelago, in the state of Pará.
For the project, WEG supplied:
- Two 40 kW powertrain sets, composed of motor and inverter;
- A 209 kWh battery bank (BESS);
- Control and automation panel;
- Photovoltaic system with 25 solar panels;
- WEG generator set for energy backup;
- Transformer for managing the electrical system.
The vessel is also equipped with two telehealth stations, providing access to digital healthcare services in remote areas. The electric propulsion, driven by two 88 kW WEG motors, ensures higher energy efficiency and reduced environmental impact, while the off-grid photovoltaic system integrated with battery storage significantly decreases dependence on fossil fuels.
During the delivery ceremony, Minister of Health Alexandre Padilha highlighted the importance of the project and praised WEG's initiative. He emphasized that Saúde Conectada Sesi represents a pioneering solution by integrating healthcare, innovation, and sustainability. The vessel strengthens river infrastructure, expands access to digital healthcare services, and promotes social inclusion in hard-to-reach communities, also contributing to carbon reduction. Local authorities, Sesi leadership, and WEG employees were also present at the event.
