WEG supplied advanced drive technology for the modernization of elevator systems at Paris-Orly Airport, France. The project, carried out with Sprinte Ascenseurs, involved the upgrade of two elevators operating in one of the country’s main international air transport hubs, where continuous operation, reliability and precision are critical requirements.
For this application, WEG provided two ADL300 22 kW frequency drives operating in closed-loop mode, developed specifically for elevator applications that demand high performance, smooth motion control and accurate positioning. The drives were installed in new control cabinets and integrated into the elevator system via CANopen Lift (DS417) communication, enabling fast, stable and reliable data exchange between the drive and the control system.
The WEG ADL300 frequency drives play a central role in controlling elevator movement, ensuring smooth acceleration and deceleration, precise leveling and consistent performance under intensive operating conditions. These characteristics are especially important in airport environments, where elevators are subject to high traffic volumes throughout the day and night and passenger comfort must be maintained at all times.
With a maximum speed of 2.5 m/s, service across six floors and a car capacity of 1,000 kg, the elevators benefit from the robustness, flexibility and precision of WEG’s drive technology. Closed-loop operation enhances speed and position control, contributing to smoother rides, reduced mechanical stress and optimized energy efficiency.
This project reinforces WEG’s position as a reliable supplier of drive solutions for elevator applications in critical infrastructure. By combining advanced motion control capabilities, seamless system integration and proven reliability, WEG once again demonstrates its ability to deliver solutions that meet the most demanding operational requirements.
