With the development of the new MVW-01 to 8000HP, WEG has become the only Brazilian company capable of producing and testing equipment with this power range. The tests, essential to assure the equipment will support the real loadduring operation, have never been performed before, due to their complexity, risk and high cost. “We have made substantial investments in the construction of a new laboratory, and in expanding the dynamometer in our testing area, making us the only company in Brazil able to offer this kind of service”, said Joable Andrade Alves.

The MVW-01 inverter technology integrates state-of-the-art and highly reliable components, such as HV-IGBTs, which are also used on high speed trains in Europe. This technology allows the inverter to be used in the most demanding applications, such as the mining, cement, shipping, iron metallurgy and petro-chemical industries.

Produced at the WEG inverter plant in Jaraguá do Sul, state of Santa Catarina, the equipment will start operation at Weir Pumps in April of 2010. The motor was supplied through Motion Industries, WEG distributor in the US.
