WEG continues to advance the digitalization of its internal processes by applying WEG Smart Machine (WSM) to monitor its generator sets. The cloud-based solution enables remote access to equipment data, eliminating manual controls and providing a complete view of operating conditions at any time. WSM also allows the creation of customizable IoT applications without the need for programming, easily adapting to the demands of different areas of the plant.

The challenge was the efficient management of generators distributed throughout the factory. Among the main issues faced by the maintenance team were fuel level control, risks of discharged batteries, start-up failures, and the difficulty of tracking overall operating conditions. Since the equipment was spread across multiple points, identifying and responding to incidents required constant travel, reducing agility and increasing costs.

With the use of WEG Smart Machine, the operation gained predictability and efficiency. The system began providing automatic alerts on fuel level, battery health, and critical parameters such as operating hours, oil pressure, temperature, load, voltage, and current. The team also gained access to a complete consumption history, enabling more accurate planning and preventing unexpected downtime.

The results demonstrate the transformation driven by digitalization:

  • Significant increase in generator set availability;
  • Greater control of fuel level and consumption;
  • Notable improvement in the maintenance team’s operational efficiency.

Key benefits include maintenance scheduling based on alerts, elimination of travel for inspections, increased monitoring reliability, and the ability to detect failures remotely and immediately. This gives the team more time to focus on strategic initiatives, while the operation becomes safer, more efficient, and more predictable.
