WEG has recently completed a significant supply for a motor control center (MCC) installed in an industrial plant in Panama, operated by a leading company in the food sector. The delivery was managed through Emory Panamá S.A., a local distributor specialized in electrical equipment and industrial process automation.

The project involved the integration of various WEG solutions, with emphasis on the Smart Connection SCW100 line — comprising 75 SCW100-SM-MOD modules, 280 SCW100-CM-011 modules, and 280 SCW100-RJ-010 communication cables — in addition to two PLC500 programmable controllers, 280 CWB9 contactors, and 290 MPW motor protectors. All the equipment was assembled in an MCC designed to control evaporators in a cold storage chamber at the plant, a process that requires high operational reliability and precision in control commands.

The SCW100 line is an intelligent interconnection system between motor protection and control devices. Its use significantly reduces assembly and wiring time by replacing conventional connections with quick RJ45-type connectors. The CWB contactors, featuring compact dimensions and self-cleaning auxiliary contacts, offer reliable and space-saving solutions, while the MPW motor protectors ensure thermal and magnetic protection according to IEC standards.

The PLC500 represents WEG’s most advanced product in process automation. With a 1GHz Dual Core processor, dedicated coprocessor, robust memory, and support for protocols such as Modbus, CANopen, EtherCAT, and MQTT, the controller provides flexibility, IoT integration, and the ability to control and monitor complex logic with high performance.

For the customer, the solution delivers significant benefits in reliability, asset protection, and operational efficiency. The use of the PLC500 and SCW100 line provides greater control over the evaporators, reduces the risk of overload or short-circuit failures, and minimizes costs associated with corrective maintenance and equipment replacement.
