WEG continues advancing in its digital transformation journey with the implementation of WEG Smart Machine (WSM) in the management of its forklift fleet. The solution, based on cloud computing technology, enables parameterizing, monitoring, and managing assets from anywhere in the world. Designed to be flexible and customizable, WSM allows the creation of IoT applications without the need for programming, simplifying configuration and use for operational teams.

The initial challenge involved performing preventive maintenance on more than 100 forklifts, whose operation requires strict control of operating hours for actions such as oil changes and scheduled inspections. Before digitalization, the process was manual: the lubrication technician spent more than 20 hours per week monitoring hour meters, recording data in spreadsheets, and updating the ERP — a workflow prone to errors and one that directly impacted productivity and efficiency.

With the integration of the WCD-ED200 Edge Device, monitoring became fully automated. Forklift data is sent directly to WEG Smart Machine, which tracks operating hours, issues alert at the exact moment maintenance is required, and updates the ERP in real time. This automation reduced manual steps, increased information reliability, and optimized the maintenance workflow.

The results demonstrate the direct impact of digitalization:

  • 8% annual reduction in operational costs;
  • 25% optimization in working hours for the teams;
  • 23% decrease in unplanned maintenance.

Beyond quantitative gains, the solution delivered strategic benefits, such as improved operational visibility, elimination of parallel controls, enhanced traceability, and standardized routines. With simple implementation and no programming required, WEG Smart Machine establishes itself as a practical and efficient tool for asset management, supporting the technological evolution of the company’s operations.
