The six motors were produced in WEG Brazilian manufacturing plant and delivered along 2007, 2008 and 2009. The range of output includes 450kW, 520kW, 750kW, 1000kW and 1500kW, all motors fitted with brush lifting device, which is a new system to the customer that used to work with fixed brush holder system. WEG motors replaces the old ones in operation. In this system the brushes are not permanently in contact with the ring, therefore avoiding wear and providing longer lifetime to the system.

Looking forward to give special attention to the customer, WEG branch in Singapore together with PT BRasasia distributor requested the support from Regional Service Asia to organize and give this training with focus on both theory and practice.

The theory training included:

- Electrical and Mechanical Maintenance – general aspects and recommendation
- Operation and structure details of the WEG brush lifting device
- Maintenance of the lifting device system
- Disassembling and assembling procedures
- Critical check points
- Adjustments and operational checking

In the practical training, the professionals could learn how to disassemble the brush lifting device , check critical points, assemble back and perform necessary adjustments.

In total, 22 mechanic engineers and technicians from Semen Padang received the training. It contributed with valuable information considering that was specially organized according to the customer's needs.

PT Sement Padang is the first cement plant to be located in Indarung in West Sumatra town Padang. Set up by a number of Dutch businessmen in 1910, this plant was originally named NV. Nederlands Indische Portland Cement Maatschappij (NV. NIPCM). In 1972, the status of the company was changed into a limited liability company (PT) and the name into PT Semen Padang. This cement plant is wholly owned by the government. Currently, PT Semen Padang is the second biggest cement plant among the ten cement plants operating in Indonesia, after PT Indocement Tunggal Prakarsa (PT ITP).
