WEG supplied BMW a power solution to its first car manufacturing plant, recently established in the municipality of Araquari, state of Santa Catarina. The main component of the solution is the main substation of 138KV 40MVA, which was delivered within record time. The incoming primary voltage of 138KV from the state Utility CELESC will be stepped down to 13.8KV for distribution to secondary substations throughout the facility.

During the manufacturing of the solution’s components, BMW monitored every step of the process, with a control and management schedule. Each week, WEG presented their step-by-step progress, as well as pending items and successes of the project. In addition, all technical and contract documents where validated by the BMW engineering team.

“WEG fully met BMW’s expectations regarding lead time, costs, quality and support during the development and performance of the project. Their engineering team played an important role in reaching our objectives and gave us total support. We are thankful for the cooperation and partnership that has been displayed between WEG and BMW,” says Roberto Bradaschia, Senior Project Manager of BMW Brazil.

As depicted in this example, efficiency is a key word of WEG’s daily routine. Whether it’s in their products, processes or developments, the concern of making everything more efficient is regarded as a continuous issue. In addition to that, generating new ideas and technologies to meet or exceed the customer requirements are also taken as major priorities.

BMW is a German-based manufacturer of cars, motorcycles and motors established in 1916. BMW Brazil started its activities in 1995. This year BMW will take one more step into the consolidation of their brand in the Brazilian market, with the establishment of the first manufacturing unit.
