From August 24 to 31, 2025, Australia will host the Bridgestone World Solar Challenge, the largest and most prestigious solar vehicle competition in the world. Since 1987, the event has brought together the brightest young minds to tackle a technical design challenge aimed at ensuring a more environmentally sustainable mobility future.
Covering 3,000 kilometers — from Darwin, in Australia’s north, to Adelaide, in the far south — the race will feature 37 teams from 18 countries, across three vehicle classes, all with zero emissions.
WEG, through its commercial branch in Australia, will play a special role as a sponsor of the Deakin University Solar Team (DUST), competing for the second time in this challenge. In addition to the cutting-edge engineering behind their solar car, the team will have a dedicated media crew of Deakin students providing daily updates, photos, and videos on the official social media channels — content WEG will have access to as a sponsor.
Supporting this initiative is directly aligned with WEG’s purpose of driving efficiency and sustainability. The event’s core themes — innovation, sustainability, and energy efficiency — reflect values that the company has championed and advanced for decades.
With a portfolio that includes solutions in electric mobility and renewable energy, WEG continues to help shape the future of energy and mobility worldwide.
