WEG participated in the modernization project of the electrical substation at the Pereira Distribution Center (CDI) of Industria Nacional de Gaseosas S.A.S., in Colombia, supplying an integrated medium- and low-voltage solution to enhance the reliability and stability of the industrial operation’s electrical system.

The scope of supply included a CCW07 WEG medium-voltage switchgear panel with a FIF configuration, equipped with an SF6 load break switch and current-limiting fuses, as well as a 300 A low-voltage main distribution board. The project also included electromechanical installation, electrical connections, functional testing, and full commissioning of the equipment, completed in March 2026.

The solution was developed to ensure greater safety and operational continuity in an industrial plant with continuous operation and high energy reliability requirements. The medium-voltage switchgear performs switching, isolation, and protection functions for electrical systems operating between 13.2 kV and 15 kV, ensuring selectivity and protection against fault currents. The low-voltage distribution board enables efficient power management for the plant’s loads, promoting phase balance and greater operational stability.

The project involved the modernization of a 112.5 kVA substation and was implemented in compliance with RETIE (Technical Regulation for Electrical Installations), the Colombian standard focused on the safety and compliance of electrical installations. The adopted solution combines operational simplicity, robustness, and cost optimization, offering a competitive alternative to traditional systems that rely on circuit breakers and complex protection relays.

Among the main benefits delivered to the customer are the reduction of failures related to electrical protection and switching operations, decreased downtime, reduced need for corrective maintenance, and increased availability of critical process loads. The solution also contributes to greater operational stability and reduces financial losses caused by electrical interruptions.

The FIF-type switchgear panel from the CCW07 line stands out by integrating protection and switching functions into a single compact module, eliminating the need for more complex automation solutions in industrial applications where reliability and cost-effectiveness are key priorities. Through projects such as this, WEG continues to strengthen its presence in industrial projects across Latin America, offering complete solutions for the modernization and management of electrical systems.
