Brazil is the third largest beer producer in the world, a market that moves R$ 77 billion per year, behind only to China and the USA. The sector pays out R$ 27 billion in total wages, generating more than two million direct jobs and supports a vast supply chain. The brewing sector has been on the rise in Brazil since 2022, when production reached a record of 14.3 billion liters of beer and a 12% growth in the number of new breweries. Maltaria Campos Gerais decided to expand its malt plant located in the state of Paraná in Brazil due to the high demand for malt. This is the largest malting plant in Latin America and with this expansion will reach the production of 360,000 tons of Pilsen malt per year in addition to other special malts.

Coperativa Agrária Agroindustrial selected WEG to supply the motors for this important project. They were delivered to Zeppelin Systems, which will be the responsible for the EPC (Engineering, Procurement and Construction) of the malting process.

Designed to meet most stringent efficiency levels, reliability and safety criteria, the W60 line motors were selected for this project. This line has an optimized and robust design with the highest power density available in the market. WEG has supplied four 1,050 HP, 4,160 V, 60 Hz W60 motors along with other ten 250 HP W50 line motors for this expansion.

This investment will generate hundreds of jobs developing the region and attract new breweries as it is located in one of the main barley production centers in the country. WEG is proud to be part of it providing state of the art products for various applications to this industry.
