Reduction of greenhouse gases emission, use of by-products, as inputs in other productive chains are just some of the benefits from the corn-based ethanol production, which is a significantly increasing activity in Brazil. Leader in grains production in the country, the Midwest region stands out in attracting investments for this segment.

Located in Deciolândia, state of Mato Grosso, Alcooad's new plant is one such case. With a processing capacity of 525 thousand tons of corn, the plant will be able to produce up to 225.7 million liters of ethanol and 155.7 thousand tons of DDGS (Distiller's dried grains with solubles) per harvest, in addition to generating up to 42 thousand MWh of energy per year

To put the plant into operation, WEG was the company selected to supply the complete electrical package for the plant, which includes low and medium voltage electrical panels, automation, monitoring and control systems, rectifiers, battery bank, electric motors, transformers and a turbogenerator. WEG´s solutions will play an essential role in the automation, distribution, control and protection system of the ethanol plant, in addition to the power generation plant´s control and protection system.

One of the differentials of the solution was the use of WEG expertise in process automation to develop a monitoring and control system with a high level of standardization of PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers) and application software modularization, resulting in a solution with simplified maintenance and flexibility for future expansions.

In addition, the complete electrical supply package represents more safety for the customer, since the integration and the interface between the equipment are made in a simplified way.

The automation platform designed for this plant also meets the ISA101.2019 Standard (High Performance Human Machine Interface) requirements, allowing superior operational efficiency, when compared to conventional monitoring systems.
