WEG-CESTARI supplied a WCG50 gearbox for the intermediate conveyor between milling units, one of the most critical and strategic points in the industrial plant of a sugar and ethanol mill, helping strengthen plant operations.
Modernization through applied engineering
The installation of the WEG-CESTARI gearbox replaced an old gearbox without requiring modifications to the existing system, maintaining the interchangeable hollow shaft and shaft-mounted configuration while adding an important differentiator: a motor base integrated into the gearbox housing, reducing dynamic loads and improving system durability.
The applied reengineering corrected the positioning of the torque arm, allowing it to operate under tension rather than compression, as in the previous system. This significantly reduces reaction forces that could cause housing deformation or failures in gearbox components such as bearings and output shafts. In addition, the complete assembly was designed with a nodular cast iron housing and high-load, long-life bearings.
Specifications of the supplied package:
Gearbox: WCG50 W06, reduction ratio 22.47, hollow output shaft (SAE 4140), torque rating of 28,000 N·m.
Motor: W22, 40 hp, 6 poles, B3D mounting.
This supply reinforces WEG-CESTARI’s commitment to staying close to its customers by delivering properly sized, robust solutions aligned with the real needs of the field.
