WEG has just reinforced its partnership with Mercedes-Benz with the launch of the eO500U, the automaker’s new electric bus.

The company, which had already supplied ultra-fast charging stations and products for the energy distribution infrastructure for the new Mercedes-Benz bus factory in Brazil, has now been approved to be the official supplier of charging stations for the new eO500U model.

With the agreement, WEG becomes part of the Mercedes-Benz electromobility ecosystem, providing the WEMOB – WEG Electric Mobility line, charging station model from 30 to 150kW, ideal for ultra-fast charging of heavy vehicles in direct current standard CCS2-DC.

“This partnership with Mercedes-Benz reaffirms our commitment to expanding the infrastructure necessary for the electrification of urban passenger transport in Brazil”, emphasizes Manfred Peter Johann, Managing Director of WEG Automation Business Unit.

With the capacity for battery full load recharging of an electric bus up to three hours, WEG charging stations also have secure access control via RFID or app, and all built-in protection devices and energy meters for a safe charging. Also, the new Mobile version for easy transport and installation, WEMOB Station models of 30kW and 60kW, features a range of 15 meters from an industrial socket-outlet, which is ideal for auto repair shops, garages, demonstrations, emergency service for discharged batteries and recharges in places without fast charging infrastructure.

“I thank the partners for joining us on this journey, after all, no one does anything alone. It is very good to count on the experience and competence of specialized companies in this project”. says Roberto Leoncini, Vice President of Sales and Marketing Trucks and Buses at Mercedes-Benz from Brasil.

The new Mercedes-Benz electric bus, which is on display at the Mercedes-Benz stand at Lat.Bus Transpúblico 2022 – Latin American Transport Fair, between August 9 and 11, at São Paulo Expo, already has 100 orders scheduled for delivery between late 2022 and early 2023.
