In highly demanding industrial environments, the correct specification of a coating system is essential to ensure surface durability and operational continuity. Focused on performance, protection, and long service life, WEG developed a complete coating solution for an automotive workshop located in the Cumbayá region, near Quito, Ecuador. 

The project was supported by the WEG coatings team in Ecuador, which identified premature failures in the epoxy system previously applied to the industrial floor. The surface showed peeling, visible scratches, and loss of adhesion, compromising both the appearance and the protection of the concrete against heavy traffic, fuel spills, and constant exposure to chemical agents. 

After the technical evaluation, WEG defined the implementation of a high-build self-leveling system specially developed for severe industrial environments. The process began with the complete removal of the existing coating and proper mechanical surface preparation, ensuring uniform cleaning and the ideal adhesion profile for the new application. 

As part of the solution, the HSS 301 self-leveling primer was applied, a high-performance sealer designed to promote excellent adhesion to concrete, effective sealing of surface porosity, and uniformity for the subsequent system layers. 

Subsequently, the HBA 301 self-leveling coating was applied, a high-build epoxy coating formulated to provide outstanding mechanical and chemical resistance on industrial floors subjected to extreme conditions. The product was applied with a controlled thickness between 1 and 1.5 mm, using specific tools such as a notched squeegee and spike roller, essential for eliminating bubbles, correcting imperfections, and ensuring a continuous and homogeneous finish. 

The solution provides high resistance to abrasion, scratches, impacts, fuels, and chemicals, while also facilitating cleaning and maintenance of the operational area. The result was a high-performance industrial floor prepared to withstand the daily demands of the automotive segment with greater reliability and durability.
