WEG announces a US$ 165 million investment plan, approximately BRL 840 million, to expand its generator production capacity in North America. The project will be carried out in two phases and aims to meet the growing demand for power generation solutions for critical applications in the U.S., particularly driven by the expansion of data centers. The initiative represents another step in the company's growth strategy for the businesses incorporated through the acquisition of Marathon.

The first phase of the project includes a US$ 24 million investment to acquire and adapt an industrial building located next to the current Quma I Industrial Park, in Atotonilco de Tula, Mexico. The facility will be dedicated to generator assembly and will contribute to expanding the company's production capacita, with operations expected to begin in the second quarter of 2027.

In the second phase, at a location yet to be defined in North America, WEG will invest US$ 141 million in the construction of two new industrial facilities. The project includes the implementation of a vertically integrated production structure covering strategic processes such as the manufacturing of laminations, low- and medium-voltage windings, shafts and frames, increasing operational efficiency and the competitiveness of the operation. Upon completion of the second phase, scheduled for 2030, the company will have a global capacity to manufacture approximately 50 generators per day at its facilities in Mexico, the U.S., Brazil and China, compared with the current capacity of 10 generators per day.

"This investment represents another important step in consolidating our strategy for the generator business in North America. In addition to expanding our production capacity, the project strengthens the integration of the operations incorporated through the Marathon acquisition and prepares us to keep pace with the evolution of markets that require increasingly robust critical infrastructure, such as data centers", says João Paulo Gualberto da Silva, Vice President of WEG's Energy Business Unit.
