The WG 27 work group makes up part of Technical Committee 2 (TC2) of the IEC with specific papers in rotating electric machines, where WEG participates actively and whose president, Prof. Dr. Eng. Hans Otto Seinsch of the University of Hannover is also the president of the Scientific and Technological Committee of the WEG group.

Representatives from around the world met in the city of Jaraguá do Sul to elaborate an international standard that will evaluate the dielectric stress in windings used in polyphased machines operating with variable frequency drives. The research of testing methods to verify the aptitude of these machines for use with VFD´s will be also a theme of the meeting.
In a future meeting the Standard should be approved, which will guarantee the conformity and acceptance of the equipment produced all over the world for such application.
Having as its main objective the creation and maintenance of standards, the IEC research cover all electro electronic technologies, including magnetic and electromagnetic, electro acoustic, multimedia, telecommunications and the production and distribution of energy, as well as the terminology and symbols, electromagnetic compatibility, measurements and performance, projects and development, safety and environment.
International standards facilitate worldwide commercialization of technology, removing technological barriers and contributing to the formation of new markets with the growth of the economy.
Last September, Jaraguá do Sul hosted a meeting of the organization, with the presence of more than 25 specialists from all over the world, an annual event of extreme importance in the worldwide context of the electro technical segment.
