WEG has just announced the acquisition of a German electric motor and gearbox company. This company is called Württembergische Elektromotoren GmbH (“Württembergische”). Württembergische is a family-owned business company founded in 1939, and counts today on manufacturing plants located in Balingen, central region of Germany, 75 Km away from Stuttgart, which is one of the most industrialized areas of the country.

The company manufactures gearboxes, three phase, single-phase and DC motors up to 1000 Watts as well as fractional servomotors.The manufacturing plant is based on an area of 5000 square meters, employs around 80 people with net revenues of about 7 million Euros (2013).

Benefits of this acquisition include the possibility of offering an extended line of gearboxes in Europe, which is a market segment WEG entered in 2011 with the acquisition of Watt Drive, and the second benefits is the chance of getting access to a strategic client base on this market.
