K+S Potash Canada (KSPC) is a subsidiary of K+S, an international resources company headquartered in Germany. In terms of international business structure, K+S is the world´s largest salt producer and one of the top potash suppliers worldwide. They serve international markets from their sites located in Europe, North America and South America. The company has been mining and processing mineral raw materials for more than 125 years.

Potash is produced worldwide and it is mostly used in fertilizers.

KSPC’s Bethune mine, formerly the Legacy Project, is the first greenfield potash solution mine built in Saskatchewan, Canada, in nearly 50 years. Located approximately 60 kilometers northwest of Regina, Bethune mine took 5 years to build and was completed in May 2017. Bethune has provided new job opportunities in Saskatchewan and new business opportunities for Canadian companies supplying goods and services for this major economic development.

For potash delivery and logistics to customers around the world, KSPC counts on a world-class port handling and storage facility operated in partnership with Pacific Coast Terminals in Port Moody, British Columbia.

Within the customer´s critical selecting technical and commercial topics, WEG was honored with the low and medium voltage electric motor order for the entire KSPC Bethune project. Other than providing full complying electric motors for mining tough requirements, such as special painting to withstand aggressive and corrosive environment, which is typical for mining application, WEG has been considered for the premium quality of service support provided by the Canadian distributor V.J. Pamensky.

Included on the WEG scope of supply are W22 low voltage motors ranging from ½ HP to 450 HP; HGF line from 250 HP to 1500 HP; and M line medium voltage motors ranging from 2000 HP to 3000 HP, which are driving different equipment in the mine process, mainly centrifugal pumps.
