For the first time a Brazilian company supplies power transformers to Itaipu Binacional Hidrelétrica.These were the first machines in the world to undergo real VFT - Very Fast Transient applications in the final tests. TR 256 MVA/550kV 60 Hz and TR 275 MVA/550kV 50 Hz: the largest elevating transformers ever made by WEG.

The Fortescue Metals Group’s Cloudbreak mine site and Herb Elliot Port in Port Hedland, Western Australia is almost completed. 24 WEG motors are installed at the mine and the port facilities.
