WEG has just announced the signature of the agreement of acquisition of Equisul Indústria e Comércio Ltda., a company specialized in the development and manufacture of Uninterruptible Power Supply systems – UPS, such as rectifiers, battery banks, chargers and inverters.

Equisul has a manufacturing unit in São José in the state of Santa Catarina with around 50 employees and its revenues will reach approximately R$ 15 million in 2010. The company was founded in 1995 and manufactured small and medium- sized systems up to 2004 when it expanded its product line to large-sized three-phase systems with the incorporation of GPL Eletroeletrônica S.A., a traditional company in this segment.

With the acquisition of Equisul, WEG increases its portfolio of products and complete solutions for energy systems incorporating what is known as Critical Power Solutions. Mr. Umberto Gobbato, WEG Automation Superintendent Director declared: “The application of UPS systems is very wide in sectors like Information Technology, Financing and any critical process of the industry such as gas and oil exploration platforms where a productive interruption is potentially very expensive. With the increasing automation of industrial processes, the technological and commercial synergy of the UPS area with our other businesses is more and more important”.
