WEG has just announced the supply of 46 wind turbines (machines and service support) to a development cluster in the north-eastern state of Ceará, Brazil. The customer is owned by wind farm developer Energia dos Ventos, controlled by investment company Alupar Investimentos.

The deal includes 46 wind turbines distributed in 5 wind farms for Energia dos Ventos I, II, III, IV and X.

In addition to the usual installation and commissioning services, WEG will service all projects for the first 10 years of operations. Featuring permanent magnet direct drive technology (PM/DD), the wind turbines will be installed in five generation plants located in the town of Aracatí, sate of Ceará.

All five projects won power purchase agreement at the “A-5” federal power auction held in 2011 by the National Agency of Electric Energy (ANEEL). The machines are currently at the production stage at WEG manufacturing plant in Jaraguá do Sul, sate of Santa Catarina, with delivery expect for 2015.
