Managing Director of WEG Automation, Manfred Peter Johann, receives the award on behalf of the company.

Last week SMACNA Brazil (Sheet Metal and Air Conditioning Contractors’ National Association) presented the 23rd edition of the Highlights of the Year Award at the Millennium Convention Center in São Paulo. Held since 1993, the event rewards the best thermo-environmental engineering jobs, that also meet the environmental protection requirements and energy efficiency. Reporting to INPI (National Institute of Industrial Property), SMACNA Brazil brings together Brazilian air treatment system contractors.

Supplier of products for two of the nine winning jobs, WEG establishes its effective entry into the building technology market as well as the latest air conditioning technology, providing comfort and air quality. WEG then reinforces its commitment to thermo-environmental engineering installers, providing solutions for the São Paulo Corporate Towers building, and the Museum of Tomorrow in Rio de Janeiro.

Located in São Paulo, Corporate Towers offers the highest levels of energy efficiency and sustainability. It is the first Brazilian project to obtain pre-certification LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) program, which provides independent verification of green buildings. WEG products used in this job ensure safe operation of the equipment installed by Heating & Cooling companies

At the same time, the Museum of Tomorrow, newest postcard of Rio de Janeiro, is practicing the latest environment principles. Among the main initiatives that make the building sustainable are the air conditioning systems installed by Ambient Air company, which used WEG products to ensure operation and the speed control of all driven machines.
