During the operation of WEG’s series of contactor for capacitor switching (the CWMC series) the pre-charged resistors with reactive loads allow the reduction of in-rush current peaks, characteristic of this type of application.
After the pre-charge, the main contacts close to allow the flow of operational current.
For reactive powers higher than 15 kVAr (at 220V) and 25 kVAr (at 380/440V), it is recommended to divide the capacitor bank into smaller modules and switch the banks using these special contactors, CWMC25,CWMC32, CWMC50 and CWMC65.
