The giant Vankor Oil Field is inside the Artic Circle in the Siberian Region called Krasnoyarsk. The Oil from this field is expected to feed the East Siberia-Pacific Ocean (ESPO) pipeline. A total of 425 wells are planned on the acreage. The field came on stream in 2009. Nonetheless, drilling and work on a central processing platform is still ongoing.

Vankor is one of Rosneft's most important projects; and is also one of the largest industrial projects in Russia. The field is important for the development of the oil and gas industry, and for Russia's economy at large.

Rosneft is the leader of Russia’s petroleum industry and ranks 12th among the world’s oil and gas companies according to PetroStrategies report from 2011. The company is primarily engaged in exploration and production of hydrocarbons, production of petroleum products and petrochemicals, and marketing of the outputs.

Rosneft is investing $2.7 billion in 2012 to develop the Vankor field; a 3.8% increase over 2011. There are plans to produce 18 million tons of oil this year, 20% more than in 2011. In 2013, the company plans to bring the field to its design capacity of 25.3 million tons.

This contract for the flameproof motors was awarded to WEG Electric CIS through its valued partner EnergoFront and includes 7 units of our W22XB range. The motors are frame size 450KH, rated 500kW, 10,000V, and Ex d IIB T4 classified area certified, according to Russian (GOST-R) and International standards. They are designed for an ambient temperature operation range of -55ºC to +40ºC, offering unmatched reliability and assured safety!

The W22XB motors will be driving crude oil pumps manufactured by JSC Nasosenergomash Sumy (HMS Group Subsidiary), which is the largest oil pump supplier in the region.
