Over 50 of WEG’s H- and M-line motors have been chosen to drive production facilities at the largest single copper mine development in Kazakhstan by both volume and value, the Bozshakol Clay Project. Owned by one of the world’s top copper producers, the Kazakhmys Corporation, the Bozshakol sulphide and Clay complex has an estimated annual ore processing capacity of 30 million tonnes and will employ around 1,500 people, with a similar number involved in the construction phase. The enterprise will contribute to Kazakhstan’s long-term industrial development.

The development phase of Bozshakol Clay Project in Kazakhstan began ahead of schedule, with pre-production mining scheduled for 2014 and the first ore to be processed at the concentrator by 2015. The capital cost for the project is around US$ 1.9 billion.
